Would you like to give your child the opportunity to learn musical skills in an active and creative environment?

Does your child enjoy moving and using their body?

Would you like your child to develop their imagination through music?

Learning musical fundamentals through experience is the basis of the Dalcroze method. These classes will involve children in feeling music through movement and singing.

The musical skills learned will stay with the children for ever, informing their listening and increasing their enjoyment of all types of music. Pupils who study an instrument (now or in the future) will be at a huge advantage in the following ways:

  • Physical awareness and control
  • Co-ordination
  • Listening Skills
  • Understanding of rhythm and metre
  • Awareness of pitch
  • Ability to be expressive

Dalcroze-based training is often described as "an education through music" - this acknowledges the broader benefits gained through individual, pair, and group working which include:

  • Spatial awareness
  • Awareness of others
  • Problem solving
  • Development of creativity
  • Critical skills
  • Language and literacy
move2music is a great experience. My daughter has developed a great sense of rhythm, and a fantastic ability to listen to music. The freedom of movement in a big space has been combined with the consciousness of the presence of other children with a very nice feeling of harmony.
Feedback from participant
Monica's classes have helped my boys to keep in touch with their innate musical core. Watching them at work with her is a beautiful experience!

It is nothing less than lunacy to set a child to study an instrument before he has been trained to appreciate rhythm and distinguish sounds.
